Sunshine and shadows

Third day of our black & white workshop, and another day in the field. I'd had requests for lakes and waterfalls, so we started the day at the edge of Derwentwater, and then moved on to the Langstrath valley, where despite the high contrast of the light, we still managed some great pics.

On the way back to the car, I walked past this copse of trees, backlit by the afternoon sunlight, and couldn't resist.

I used a 0.75 grad over the top right corner, to prevent blowing the sky detail; in Lightroom, I lifted the shadows slightly to retain detail in the trees, then in PS, I added a touch of glow, using a duplicate layer, and converted it to B&W
