Watching the setting Sun

The day was warm and sunny, possibly the last day of summer weather, so it was no surprise to see a fine sunset.
What was surprising was the extraordinary, high altitude cloud formations, beautifully lit in golden sunshine.
Then the clouds were acting as a filter so I could actually see the setting Sun, an amazing sight.
The clouds thickened, obscuring Sun, golden light gave way to fading red, and the Sun settled under it's red duvet just under the horizon. Night began to follow day.
