First Day of School. Ever.
Today was my boy's first day of school. Ever. He's 2.5, the youngest, by far, in his school, but we have been hoping he'd be ready and we think he is.
My husband and I co-own the school, a Montessori Children's House, which is a mixed age community of 2.5 to 6-year-olds. Our daughter was the prime reason we have invested in the school and our son is why we continue to be part of it. It has been wonderful, but as any small business owner knows, "ownership" means a lot of responsibility. Our family has made some pretty big trade-offs for the school. Today was one of those days that made it seem worthwhile.
I sent an e-mail to our partner and Q's teacher. This is our exchange:
"I hope today went well.
I hope you love my boy and that he loves you.
I hope his toileting continues to improve:)
In case it's helpful, he'd love window washing and hand washing.
He answers "yes" when you ask him how he is.
He might pretend to be Bob the Builder and call you Wendy."
"Q was delightful today! He used the toilet independently, at my suggestion, was helpful to others, settled (with) {boy} at the reader's roost, changed his wet shirt, had 4 lessons (!) With me, etc. I DO love him, and I think he loves others naturally and easily. We did have a conversation about Bob, Barney, too... he has a sweet sense of humor; I remember G also understanding the concept of a joke quite young. The day went well."
I was at the school I actually work at for money today and it was our first day too. I was sorry to miss my own children's first day, but we took some pictures by their respective schools a few days ahead, so I'll post those next.
So sorry I have not logged in and made comments in the past week or so...I will get caught up on my favorite Blip journals next weekend, I hope.
