A Little Creepy

Today we ate lunch at the Seattle Center, at a place called Collections Cafe, which is part of the Chihuly Gardens exhibit. Dale Chihuly is probably the most innovative and well-known glass sculptor working today. He is also an avid collector and each table in the cafe has a space in the middle where a part of a collection is visible under glass. These are twine dispensers. I had never seen such a thing but I suppose at one time these were quite common. To me they are more than a little creepy, but they certainly served their intended purpose, I suppose.
