W-e-e-e-e-e-ll, you have to try.

Herself can't stand Jeremy Vine. I'm not bothered one way or t'other, but like to listen to the programme.

One of his topics today started with the story of the "Walkie/TalkieScorchie".
All you furriners will, if interested, actually find it under either title.
Anyway... Several folks, as they do, phoned/txted/emailed/Tweeted(HATE it) about dire fires :¬)) caused by paper-weights, make-up mirrors and the like.
I/we have probably played with convex lenses and set fire to paper in our distant youth (And more recently).
I was also, courtesy of a misspent youth in the physics lab, equally aware of the effects of ye parabolic reflector with both light and sound, but had never actually done it with a mirror.

I had absolutely NO intentions of scorching my backing board, so it was of VERY short duration.
First try was an inverted pic. of the plant, in pot, on window cill, cast on to gaffer's sewing machine. It worked nicely, but I wasn't best chuffed with it.
Tried outside, with the sun, and got this.

From which I deduced that the mirror(s) must have been extremely skilfully/accidentally placed at an unfortunate, correct, distance to have a pyromaniacal effect before the sun moved on around.
I'll have to have a play when we come back of hols. Off Friday, Back 17th-18th(ish).

OH! BTW I haven't been afflicted with a strange skin disease. I cropped most of my hand off, think it's a trick of the light/lens/summat.
