Computer Says No
Day 246
Very tired and bemused boy was sent to school today. Well it was after 11pm before he actually went to sleep due to a mixture of being upset at the prospect of the return to school (Know how you feel mate, trying blooming workin) and general messing about.
Still his first day in Year 1 was a resounding success by all accounts. I even managed to extract those details that only parents seem to need to know on the drive home. Stuff like what did you have for dinner, who did you play with, what did you learn?I'm sure the standard response of I can't remember' will return tomorrow.
Book bag was filled with homework *already* and loads of parental permission forms. This one has to be signed and understood by all the kids in the school. Seriously what 5/6 year old and older in fact will really understand what most of this means. Surely for a pupil focused communication the language used would be more age appropriate. Instead they expect parents to try and explain these 'rules'. I'll think about trying to get the lad to understand next year and trust that the teachers will do their jobs.
I did like the I will treat my username and password like my toothbrush, I will not share it. Well that's useless - the boy also uses his toothbrush to clean the sink, walls, his hair!
