Strange fungi

Oh I do love this time of year when all the fungi start appearing. I am open to correction on this but my research suggests hat this is Hydnellum peckii (uncommon and found in Scottish pinewoods, which strangely enough is where I found this one). My trusty but ancient Roger Phillips book tells me that its edibility is unknown, presumably because you would have to be at deaths door with starvation before you put anything like this in your mouth!
I feel fluey but hoping that The Great British Bake Off will cure me.
