Preparing for Take Off

When I was lifting potatoes and picking beans this afternoon I noticed that the garlic chives were in flower and full of hover flies and other insects. There was one particularly large hover fly, which I took lots of snaps of - when I looked at them later realised that this has caught it preparing to fly off! Just a little bit of cropping, otherwise straight out of the iPad!

It was cloudy for most of the day, which was ok because I'd decided to spend the morning doing some paperwork. My extra university pension is due to start and I have been avoiding going through the paperwork, today I think I've cracked it apart from a few minor questions to ask the administrator later in the week.

Sun came out mid-afternoon, lots of bees, insects and butterflies still around and enjoying the sunshine.
