Woking pancakes

I got a glimpse of Woking today. This is the martian statue in town. HG Wells lived here when he wrote the story (& I believe the martians landed in Woking). Anywho, Woking was ok, but not great. We stopped off at a diner for second breakfast. I got super excited about "American Pancakes", but they were a big disappointment. One little flat thing (closer to a crepe) swimming in a buttery bath of syrup. I'd dreamed about a stack of fluffy pancakes with syrup drizzled on the top. Oh well. I'll make a batch at home soon.
