I was delighted to read this week that that Chorlton's iconic pubic library has been granted grade-II listed status. The future of the building was brought into focus following the announcement that it would be sold off to developers by Manchester City Council. Fears of demolition prompted local councillor Victor Chamberlain to secure English heritage's recommendation. The library will celebrate its centenary next year with hopefully a bright future ahead that can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.
