Barcelona - Estacio de Franca

Our stay in Barcelona was only brief; on Friday we headed south by train to the small town of Vilanova i la Geltru, pausing to appreciate the rather more functional (but still somehow lovely) architecture of the railway station.

Once we'd emerged from the suburbs of the city, it was lovely to travel by train and see the coast go past. Somewhat foolishly, however, on arrival in Vilanova in the midday heat we decided to follow the walking instructions to get to our apartment, rather than just hopping in a taxi. Suffice it to say that it took a while with toddlers and luggage in tow. I suppose it helped us get our bearings though. And it did mean we felt we'd earned our tapas lunch and an afternoon dip in the sea.
