Akademic Ioffe, Baffin Bay

After leaving Ilulissat we dropped anchor just south of Disko Island and let the worst of the storm pass before heading west across Baffin Bay towards the north end of Baffin Island. When you look at a map of Greenland and Baffin Bay it’s actually pretty difficult to get a sense of how big the distances are. Our route across Baffin Bay took over 48 hours.

And not all of those 48 hours were smooth sailing.
