After work with Myles
“A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.”
― John Grogan, Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog
Myles is a 4 year old rescue dog who is often very skittish with new people. He takes to some people quicker than others and I respect his discerning nature. Sumner and I picked him up in a rest area off the highway where we met his rescuers. They had taken several dogs from a facility in Arkansas (deep south of the US) and trekked them to people who had prearranged and pre-paid their medical expenses dropping them off along the east coast from Connecticut to Maine. He took to both of us right away (especially her). He has melted the hearts of all, even the one who didn't think he liked or needed a dog! He has not grown old, but he has faced adversity and remained optimistic.
