A place in time

The plan was that I could spend the day shopping at Westfield City Stratford while Mr A pedalled furiously round London and Surrey for 100 miles today...

But instead, I went on an adventure!

Armed with my first ever Oyster card, I hopped on a bus towards Chingford Mount to visit my godmother Dorothy, who I hadn't seen in about 12 years! It was fantastic to see her and find her in such high spirits - pretty good for a lady who will be (ssshh) 90 in October!

On the way back, I managed to sit right at the front of the bus on the top, so I could do the fully touristy-bit, my head swivelling left and right as we trundled along. I spotted places I used to visit with my grandparents when I was a small child and even managed to spot (and snap) my father's old grammar school - the Sir George Monoux (now a sixth form college) that my father attended at the same time as jazz legend Johnny Dankworth.

Mr A finished the 100+ mile route in 4hrs 53mins.

An exciting day indeed!
