The truth about the South East

The plan was to get to London and well, how difficult could that be. I mean one train.

So we went to the train station and before going on to the platform, we asked someone whether the train would be on a specific platform. Ok correct platform.

On the platform, we see the sign, next train direction London Paddington, ok, correct train coming in. On the front of the train it is clearly written London Paddington ok correct train stopping. We ask someone else, yes correct train.

On the train a display indicating destination London Paddington. Yes ok we are on the right train.

We set off, and being a wee bit sad I decide to check the progress of the train over gps.

Imagine my surprise to discover that we are going in the wrong direction.

So we get off at Twyford only to find that the people waiting for their train have been doing so for twenty minutes and announcements are telling us that the staff have no idea when the train will arrive.

'The 17:58 train is now scheduled to arrive at 18:04' - automatic message

'Please stop coming to the information desk! The staff have no further information'

'The 18:06 train is now scheduled to arrive at 18:14' - automatic message

and it goes on and on until we are told there are security concerns due to a kink in the track.

'The 17:58 train is now scheduled to arrive at 18:21' - automatic message

'The 18:06 train is now scheduled to arrive at 18:19' - automatic message

'Would the passengers waiting for the train to London Paddington please change to platform 3, the train will arrive shortly'

And then on the platform there is a message that says, 'The next train due on this platform will not be stopping.' Except it does, and we get on it and it takes us to London. You could not make it up. I was expecting the closing theme from Eastenders when we got on the train.
