Bag of flour
A peaceful morning Geoff for our final engraving session. This time we put a layer of varnish over the top of the sugar mixture we used on Wednesday to mark out darker areas, the removed the marked areas with water and brushing, redefined edges with varnish, applied an aquatint for a stippled effect and then applied a slow acting chemical etch for the darkest and deepest of areas. We should get to print them off next weekend and I am very excited to see the results. We have used various techniques, starting with removing wax from the plate, then using aquatint for certain areas and even adding direct marks to the plate (my favourite bit I think). As ever, we all felt calmed and had chats about all sorts.
The afternoon faded into the usual sorting of stuff and Ben had an extra training session, boots working well. This evening should have been a little more jolly, but tiredness seems to be boiling certain tempers up again.
Let's cover that all over with a thin layer of varnish shall we.
This bag was just asking to be blipped, sitting there incongruously on the window sill.
