Life on the Good Intent

Stink Bug

Pentatoma rufipes or forest shield bug. Before Blip I would just have called it a shield bug. Now thanks to Blip and the www I know that they are good parents and that they will live up to their name by squirting a noxious smelling liquid when threatened.
As I was preparing dinner I decided not to test this for myself.

Was vaguely nauseated by this from the Royal Entomological Society website "In Mexico Stink Bugs are eaten both live and cooked (for instance in a pate or salsa) since their pungent odour gives a dish an aromatic flavour."

All you gentle souls out there will be relieved to read that Mr or Mrs Stink-Bug was released to tend their family and for us to eat our pasta - tomatoes and olive oil only as dressing!
