Open mic night at Stella's

I apologize to my blip audience and to Hadassah for the poor quality of this photo, but the lighting was very dim and I didn't want to use any flash.

Thursday is Open Mic Night at Stella's, a warm, intimate space on Holly Street, in downtown Bellingham. Hadassah, my musical cohort and accompanist for Allegra Women's Choir, sang several songs tonight with her friend Aaron on guitar. It certainly was no surprise to me that they sounded great!

I love the Open Mic Night format and the idea of getting up there and sharing music with your community. Stella's ambience, lighting, and floorplan are ideal, offering a welcoming, unintimidating venue for both seasoned, and new singer-songwriters to gain exposure and strut their stuff.

Rich and I have now built up a pretty good repertoire of duets, and our voices are blending quite nicely. With a bit more practice, and maybe a few shots of bourbon, you might see us at an Open Mic Night near you, someday soon.
