Plaza Mayor

We woke up armed with a plan this morning. Off to Plaza Mayor, a local shopping place close to the airport. We stopped up town for tapas at one of the local watering holes. I had my favourite tortilla and ensalada rusa, while Mum managed some of her tortilla and the bread :-) It was soooo hot today, much hotter than the last few days, with no breeze which made it very uncomfortable. We got to talking with a lovely Spanish lady, who was seated at the table next to us, with a lovely little terrier dog tethered to her chair. Unfortunately he was cowering from a much larger, and horrible looking dog behind us. The lady kept telling us in Spanish that her dog normally liked to drink her coffee from the bowl underneath the table, but was too frightened by the big dog. It was really nice to chat, albeit in our broken Spanish, and when the other dog left, the tiny terrier slurped away at the bowl of coffee :-)

We had a quick look in Loly's shop for perfume, and then we took the train to Plaza Mayor. We spent rather a lot of time in Zara Home, and I ended up with a lovely throw for my sofa, and a rack sort of thing for my cutlery. We didn't do as much shopping for clothes as we normally do.

There is a huge Ikea across the road from the shops, but it involves a long walk across the bridge over the train tracks. We usually drive, but I wanted to go as we were there, but it was less fun in 40 degree heat! Nevertheless, after a slow plod, 20 mins later we were there. (I took this pic of a tree on the walk over). We were so thirsty we stopped for a drink at the cafe there. We ordered a coffee and a coke, paid the 2 euros to the girl at the counter, and were handed two empty cups! It took us a couple of minutes to work out what we had to do to get them filled! After a little wander, I found another throw for my sofa, and we headed back to the station.

When we finally got home we were both pooped, so we had a lazy afternoon. I may have had a nap :-) Then we went back to Volapie in town for a couple of drinks. Another nice day. I do love my mummy.
