A lovely old book.

Books have always been important to me. This one is from Gregor's parents house dates from 1907 and he has given it to me. It is a lovely leather bound book of 17th century poems. It fits beautifully in your hand, has this pretty gold embossed design on the front and lovely designs inside. I also like it because it belonged to Gregor's Great Aunt Tildi, who was a primary teacher in the highlands. Gregor was very fond of her as she was the only Great Aunt who really bothered with him and his brother. They had a collection of maiden Aunts as a whole generation of men were lost in the Great War. Tildi taught in a tiny village school and was the first woman in the area to drive a car. She did daring things like drive all day to get down to Glasgow - an undertaking in the 1940s.
Gregor tells me I'm rather like her and so I'm especially fond of this book with her name inside..
