Day 239 of 365 - Cash's Hundred Houses!
Welcome to day 239 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)
The original photo was taken part way along Coventry Canal near to the bridge at Cash's Lane. It is an image of the historic 'Cash's Hundred Houses'. These three storey Town Houses were originally constructed during the mid 19th Century by John and Joseph Cash. The plan was to build 100 of these houses with living quarters for Weavers on the first two floors and a separate workshop for them to weave on the top floor. The workshops would all be steam powered. Each of the Weavers would pay rent to live in the bottom of the house and also pay for the steam power for the Looms in their workshops. However in the end only about Half (48 Houses) of the planned 100 houses were built. Some of the buildings have been lost over the years, most of these during the Second World War. After the company JJ Cash moved to new premeses in the 1980's, a Housing Association took over the complex and converted the remaining buildings into flats and houses. The building as a group is now Grade II listed.
As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App Huemore for iPhone. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.
First of all I used the app Handy Photo to edit the image. This was done by cloning away and deleting the TV aerial from the top of the building and it's reflection in the Canal. I also used the same app to clone away and delete 14 Satellite TV dishes on the wall of the building. Next I used the app Mextures to apply some lighting and texture to the picture. The preset that I applied was a custom one that I have used on a past image. After that I used Distressed FX to add a couple of layers of Overlays and Textures to the picture, the First layer was the Overlay called Stirred and the Texture called Broken. The Second layer was the Overlay called Citrus and the Texture called Vanilla. Finally I used PhotoToaster to apply the Canvas texture and add the Shadow II frame.
