Predinosauric

I mentioned we were at White Sands the other day looking at fossils. Here's the one that Charlie found. It separated into these two parts as he placed it in my hand. Something that has persisted through countless millions of years, it just separated and revealed this. I think it's some kind of shell rather than a piece of vegetation.
