Laundry

This was G's idea - to blip our Laundry guys! These guys, or rather one of them in particular who is assigned to us, iron the sheets, duvet covers and some tshirts which can handle a heavy iron I would prefer not to spend the time ironing! They do a grand job and it doesn't cost much at all - 60p for a single sheet! They've been in business and ironing for us even when my mum was around - so I can't even remember when we first started with them.

In the 90s - maybe 1999, the shop caught fire (short circuit in the tailoring shop next door) and the place burnt down. We lost a few items in that fire. They set up temporarily in another part of town and then came to inform us they were back in business! However we reckoned it was too far for the man to carry our clean clothes to iron on his bike with loads of other stuff so we used another laundry instead. Regretted it as our things came back smelling of cigarette smoke so we were REALLY pleased when they got their original shop up and running again.

They have had improvements done to their premises over the years, the installation of additional air-conditioning units being the best/most important. Anyway, they are a happy bunch and we like each other! I got thanked for taking this picture! They were so happy that one of their customers would care to take a picture of them.

Part of our service network that we would have really missed had we left Karama during our move last year, indeed if I had to leave Dubai! So thrilled that some things in life are still the same!
