Whitby Day 4 : Boats
The whitby museum is an incredible place. Its part gallery part museum and part horror cabinet of curiosities. From fabulous fossils to a macabre"hand of glory" (look it up) to a victorian tempest prognosticator (used to predict storms using leeches!) the place is wonderfully victorian and gorgeously curated. There is a real sense of history and community to the place and I really cant see the place having changed in decades. Which I love.
There is one room full of model ships and boats (most of them in bottles or lightbulbs) depicting also Whitby's heritage and tie with whaling and the sea. Evie almost got lost in the model armada.
