The Gorges des Galamus

Today we are having a trip to the seaside, we are in Argeles sur Mer which is deep, deep down in the corner of France near Spain. In order to get here we could go the long route avoiding steep narrow roads or go the shorter route. So we chose the shorter route which goes through this gorge, it's hair-raising and not for the faint hearted. En route to the gorge we saw a cyclist lose control of their bike, and ride off the road luckily only a 15 - 20 ft drop into a field. He knackered his bike, had blood all down one side of his face and tore his clothing. We offered him first aid, a ride to a hospital, a telephone call for help all of which he refused. He did however through broken bits of his bike down violently in the middle of the road in anger. A farmer in a truck stopped too to help but he kept saying he was ok, so we left the poor guy there to carry the bits of his bike to wherever!
The drops in the gorge are frightening, the road is carved into the rock face which you can see towards the top left of the gorge. The hermitage is halfway down the gorge, there was no quick way that I could get a shot of the gorge from bottom to top, at the bottom however is a gorgeous looking river which I've always fancied having a dip in.
Now Ashley and I are off to explore the beach and le midi x
