A Rare Breed

We keep this one behind bars.
For his own safety, really.
It’s a bit wild out here
for this well-bred fellow.

As you see, he has a bench
he can make use of
and there are plenty of paths
he can choose to walk on.

He wears a suit
(in all weathers)
and wouldn’t dream
of not sporting a tie.

He had a partner,
once. An old
friend. They made
a fine pair -

her in her thick coat
and sensible hat.
Him in his suit.
I thought you should know that.

Now, walk on.
I can’t have the likes of you
disturbing his peace.
