Dawn sky from Ponsonby Road

Started this morning's run in the dark. Enjoyed moonlight as I went through the series of parks on the way from here to Cox's Bay. By the time I had got back up from sea level to the top of the Ponsonby/Herne Bay ridge, the sky was much lighter and I took a number of photos, with this (the last) one being my choice. I acknowledge that the hight above sea level was not great, but it was uphill.

The Sky Tower is nicely shown (especially large), and some of the central city tower blocks are also visible. The predominance of money as a "commodity" in our society is shown by the fact that the three tallest buildings (the Sky Tower, the ANZ Bank building, and the Vero building) are owned and house corporations that use money to make money without producing any tangible product.

The Sky Tower is connected to the Casino, which is blatantly about making money by encouraging people to gamble. There is no product other than hope and dreams, which mostly are doomed to be dashed.

The ANZ Bank (totally Australian owned despite the claimed NZ connection) mostly produces profits by way of financial manipulations, only incidentally about helping some people/companies to be productive.

Vero is an insurance company. The Christchurch earthquakes have shown all too bluntly that when a disaster occurs, against which people have insured themselves, the insurance industry finds many and multiple reasons as to why they do not have to pay out on the insurance claims. They have then rapidly raised the premiums for everyone, especially those in Christchurch, so that they can make even bigger profits, because there is no reason to believe that they will be more likely to pay out on claims in the future.

The sky was, however, quite beautiful.

This was taken while standing on Ponsonby Road, my One Street.
