Hiking in Waitomo

The plan was to go on a hike this morning, but we didn't make it too far as the first trail we followed was unfinished and the second became too slippery for us to follow after a while as only one of us had proper hiking boots. So we admitted defeat and headed back to the hostel and booked our onward journey to Tongariro National Park tomorrow morning.

We headed to the hostels small bar to watch the New Zealand vs Australia rugby match in the evening. As it is the only bar in the town, it got pretty full with locals cheering on the NZ team, which was cool. I've been given a few pointers about rugby, so I was trying to follow the match. I think I was staring to get the hang of the basics by the end. NZ won, so it was a good night.
