But, then again . . . . .

For and Against.

Walking the dog this morning (Meg was feeling her age and decided not to come with us) we came across this display of national pride. With a little over a year before the Scottish independence referendum feelings are beginning to show. The Old Lady is dead against it, though she will not have a vote; at the time when the Blair government devolved a little political power to the Scottish government during the death throes of the last century, it did the same for the cities of Lunnun, Bristle and Brummagem (and maybe a few others). She was in favour of an independent Bristle, in fact she had been very upset when Thatcher emasculated the council by stealing the city's county borough status and making it part of the new county of Avon (which comprised North Somerset and South Gloucester). Ever since Blair corrected the situation there has been a thriving locality known as Cuba, an acronym for "Counties that Used to Be Avon."

Today's back blip is "Modern Fashion" from the 22nd August.
