The Captain's Club

To Christchurch today for an 80th birthday gathering at this establishment beside the River Stour. It was good to see the birthday boy. I've known  his partner since my undergraduate days in Bournemouth 55 years ago, and two other mutual friends from those days was there as well with their husbands. So lots of reminiscing was going on. 

The venue was also quite close to where I lived in my second year in Bournemouth but we didn't really have time to have a drive past the house for old times sake as we had to get home. 
I'd forgotten thatwe can easily make it to the Christchurch/Bournemouth area, spend a few hours, and get back again comfortably in a day,  so an excursion is on the cards.
