Venetian harbour
We had a relaxed day today starting with a stroll in a nearby park. It was looking a lot greener and more cared for than when we visited many years ago. While my husband was looking in detail at a statue of person who fought in the Cretan war a woman came over and we had a brief interesting discussion.
After a coffee in the park we walked through the old town to the Archeological Museum where we spent some time. It was presented very well so we immersed ourselves in the extensive early history going back to pre historic and Minoan times to the present day.
In the evening we enjoyed wandering through the streets, narrow side streets and sea front areas which all come to life at night full of numerous eating places. There is certainly an enormous choice. Each time we wander through the streets we find new areas of restaurants. Tonight we arrived at the Venetian harbour area just as the moon was rising and chose to eat at one of the restaurants here as a treat. Understandably the prices are a little higher here for the view but the food was very good and we both enjoyed our swordfish and chargrilled vegetables. The fish in Greece is very good.
After our meal we wandered back through the old town it’s quite fun finding your way and we are getting better at it.
