The Hoy Hills
Yet another beautiful day in Hoy, ideal for the foothills.
Last night's Orkney Science Festival event at the Hoy Kirk was really well supported. A lot of folk came across specially on the ferry fae Stromness. We put past all of the heritage exhibits / cases. Tables and chairs were taken from the store, raffle tickets were prepared, plates and cutlery set out, flowers on each table and (wait for it) napkins were folded. Much later my team washed up. The only contingency not covered was Mrs Phimister having a baby, however at 87 the chances were slim. Some great raffle prizes which local businesses had so generously donated. The Star prize was an inflatable Judith Chalmers (mouthpiece worn). A weekend in the same phone box with Zeinab Bedawi and Jon Snow. Yellow ticket 583 won a sack of sawdust with a large bottle of arnica. Battery operated Tassels (pre-warmed). A blancmange; the only known copy of the A-Z of the Planet Zargon, a Skink pie and a set of dentures (unclaimed from last raffle).
At the end of the evening everyone was invited back to my website.
NB: To 'Curious of Redditch' - this will be the last event of the 2025 season, also Hamish's swelling has gone down.
