Low Battery
After repeated visits to the hospital over the past couple of years the battery in my Pacemaker has finally been declared to be low enough to justify scheduling the replacement of the Pacemaker. That should be in about 2 months time - they like to do the change when there is about 3 months life left in the battery, to minimise the number of replacements in a lifetime.
Whether they need to also change one of the leads has yet to be decided (it is not optimally positioned), that is up to the consultant, though I have requested that the replacement is MRI compatible to make life easier for the Urologists.
Thank you NHS, in the USA a replacement would cost between $5,000 and $20,000, if one of the leads also needs to be replaced that cost could go up to $50,000 or more.
