All A Buzz
I was sure to tell John to keep the Helenium that is growing at the corner of the barn. Its common name, Sneezeweed, comes from the historical use of its dried leaves and flower heads to create a snuff that induced sneezing, not from its pollen, which does not cause allergies. It was used to relieve nasal congestion due to colds. Although a bit spindly due to lack of rain, it is still blooming beautifully, and the bees love it. When I went out to photograph it, I could hear the "buzzing" from the porch. It was crawling with bees. I counted at least 4 different kinds. There may have been more, but they don't stand still for a proper census. I focused on this Bumbler hard at his work. A forecast of a rainy weekend has me buzzing with excitement! Let's hope it actually transpires.
