Butterfly Final Fling?
Heavy rain early on gave way to an increasingly nice day. Mid afternoon there were many butterflies in the garden on Verbena and Buddleia. Large Whites, Red Admirals, a Peacock and quite a few Painted Ladies. At a guess these last, summer visitors not native, are late brood from earlier migrants, the log, warm summer supporting their development. Lovely to see - but how much longer do they have?
I spent much of the wet morning sorting the house, things having slipped with the collision of much extra work and having Ruth here .... plus the debris from her foraging for and processing of wild weaving materials. It's looking a lot better now :-) Lovetrees dropped in as I was belatedly having lunch and we took Meg for a lovely walk along the riverbank, the wind blowing the reeds touching the senses with sound as well as sight. An extra pic of the view as we headed back to where we started.
After a drop in at Jamie's and a slice of freshly baked banana loaf, I headed home for a little snooze before a meal out this evening. Five of us met up for a very convivial evening and some delicious food at one of the high street eateries. Nice end to the day.
