Funny how things join up...
Henry Aldridge & Sons, of Devizes, are "The World's leading auctioneers of Titanic and Liner". They have a new head office opening in Devizes very soon.
My son and his wife live in Belfast. Fairly close to the marvellous Titanic museum.
My D-in-L is a direct descendant of one of the workmen that painted the fancy parts of the Titanic. All the glitzy scrolls and swirls and snazzy parts.
He, her G G Grandfather, was later offered a role with the maintenance crew when the ship set sail. He and his wife, the district midwife, had 7 children so his priority was to stay at home. Thank the Lord.
I have been researching my family on Ancestry.com and nothing interesting has come to light.
My D-in-L has given me enough detail to dig around and her family really has some wonderful history.
I don't want to give too much away because it is R's story, not mine, but my imagination has been captured.
Another day of sunshine and showers. I've had a walk with Sarah and her (mad) dogs and later Pauline came round. Martin has finally been cremated.
It became quite warm this evening.
