Matlock's own "Mixing of the Waters"
Muddy water from Bentley Brook flows alongside the water of the River Derwent for a short while until they mix.
This is aping the famous phenomenon in South America where the darker waters of the Rio Negra meet those of the River Amazon and because of their different temperatures, they don't fully mix for some way.
PS Amazingly we saw a pair of kingfishers speeding down the river a short distance downstream - presumably looking for some clearer waters to fish in!!
