6000 Miles. Swallow That!
It was bucketing down when we left for Fishers Green early this morning but as usual I was thinking positive. By the time I had parked the rain had stopped and soon after that the sun broke through.
I stood on the viewing platform and spent some time trying to capture swallows. The one above is the best I could do today. I think it might be a juvenile as it hasn't got developed tail streamers.
Amazing to think that these tiny birds will soon be setting off on their over 6000 mile flights across the Sahara Desert to South Africa. In recent years a few swallows have overwintered here in the UK.
