Now that all the tourists have gone, the village restaurant has reverted back to local prices. A no-choice 3-course lunch menu for 23 euros, changing weekly. We felt we ought to give it a go as we've only been there once this year, for a few excellent but very expensive tapas.
Just as well we did, as chef Guillaume told us he's shutting up shop at the end of October to start work on his very ambitious project taking over a much larger restaurant in Lézignan that's been closed for about a decade. Lots of renovation to be done first.
Lunch was excellent from start to finish. The first course was roasted celeriac with celeriac foam, garnished with lardons and the kind of intense meaty sauce only chefs can make. Much better than it sounds! Then medallions of veal with parsnip purée, a miniature potato stack, and divine béarnaise sauce; I scraped out the jug to get the last drops. And this chocolate and caramel dessert to finish. The dehydrated kiwi fruit didn't add anything, but the rest was delicious, especially the chocolate and sesame tuiles. With coffee and a bottle of local wine, the bill was 70 euros. Great value if you're not a picky eater (or vegetarian ...) Number of clients for lunch: four :( We'll go back.
I finally managed to get to yoga this evening, for the first time in over a month. It was a lot more taxing than gym yesterday evening -- my legs are really sore now. I did manage to do a shoulder stand and nearly a plough though!
