Waiting game
I’ve had this book on the shelf for at least five years. Its time finally came at the weekend when I picked it up and was immediately immersed in Edwardian era Morecambe. I surely must have gone to Morecambe as a lad. We regularly went to Blackpool, Southport and the other coastal holiday towns but I have no recollection of it. Might have to pop in next time I’m on my way down to see Smithski.
It helped pass the time while I was waiting in the car for Joe to have his eyes tested. Later we went for another swim together and I thrashed my way through fifty lengths.
”There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion.
"If, for example, we consider books as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few: when you want to feel better, then you go to the 'medicine closet' and choose a book. Not a random one, but the right book for that moment. That's why you should always have a nutrition choice!”
