THIS IS NOT JUST ANY OLD CAKE...
...this is an M & S Café cake!
I persuaded Mr. HCB to take me out food shopping this morning, but actually he is quite happy to come because he says it means I don’t have to lift the heavy things into the boot, bless him.
However, before we went to Aldi, we popped into the M & S Food Hall at North Swindon, supposed to be the biggest in the country, but as soon as I saw Mr. HCB’s face as he walked in, I knew he wasn’t happy about being there. He said it was far too big and wasn’t a place he would go to again.
We decided we would have a coffee though, and as we stood in the queue and were chatting to another couple, we noticed the price of the Rainbow Cake - the label said it was “perfect for sharing” but if you are on a 1,000 Calorie Diet, it is almost all your calories for the day for ONE slice! In fact, this particular cake is 885 calories and £6 a slice and it wasn’t even that big!
We were laughing about it, but I guess that M & S feel it is all right to charge this much as long as they give “5p from every piece of cake” to MacMillan Cancer Support. Needless to say we did NOT buy cake, buns or scones of any description.
As we walked out of the Food Hall, not having bought anything, we saw lots of roses at £6 a bunch - hence my collage - and I know for a fact that there are no calories in roses - well, there would be, I guess, if you ate them, but you know what I mean - we all have a choice, don’t we?
We then went to do our shopping at Aldi and I am now about to sit and relax because I have a busy evening ahead. I am going into the Prayer Room for about 6 o’clock and then at 7.30 we have a Music Group Practice for our new Minister’s Induction Service on Saturday and two services on Sunday. It’s all go, but that’s how I like it. Tomorrow is Community Fridge day and then I have a funeral to go to on Friday, so that’s my week taken care of.
Just had a heavy storm and the rain was fair dapping down, so good job we were at home in the dry. However, the grass is looking greener already, so that’s good. Enjoy the rest of your day. M xx
