Landing!

The main object of the day was starting collecting things and packing for our next trip.

I have been trying more practice on birds in flight.  I know this isn't exactly a bird in flight but t is in movement.  Chaffinches aren't the most confident at using the feeders.  Often they prefer feeding on the ground.  I managed to catch this male just as he was landing.

I suppose the habit of feeding on the ground may have contributed to name, probably from them going round among the chaff looking for grain.  When I was a boy they were the commonest bird in the country so I can imagine they around in large flocks in time gone by.
