Horse Encounter
Last day with the girls before we take them home. We didn’t have any immovable plans so we tried to think of somewhere to take them. Didn't want to travel far as we will be in the car for a long time tomorrow. We asked them what they would like to do and they said they wanted to go to Woodbank again to see the animals and no doubt visit the ice cream parlour!
They seemed a bit surprised when we were walking (we’d only gone in the car on Sunday as we’d taken the car up to St Ives first.)
It was good that we did walk or we wouldn’t have had this horse encounter on our way there and back. After their recent riding experience on the Isle of Harris they are both very keen on horses and this one obligingly let them stroke it’s nose.
Straight to the Ice Cream parlour once inside, we had coffee whilst they ate their ice cream and we had a fun game of Chinese whispers which inevitably became very silly!
Then we went to see Elvis ( the Macaw), he was up in the rafters as usual and after saying hello he flew over to the owl cage. Inside the Grey parrot was very vocal and we saw Brian the big tortoise who didn’t seem to be around on Sunday. He was with Shelley the little one.
Eda remembered the play area in the village park, so passing the horses again we went into the park on the way back, we had it to ourselves.
It was surprisingly warm by the time we walked home through the village for lunch, we could hear the children playing out at the village school. That will be both girls from next Monday when Jude has her first day of school.
This afternoon I’ve been preparing a casserole to take with us tomorrow and Chris is busy making some of the apples we were given in Bath a couple of weeks ago into Apple chutney.
