Home For The Next Seven Days
We are off on our travels yet again. I know ... we seem to have more holidays than royalty at the moment. It’s just the way things have panned out for August. We are currently in this caravan in woodlands in North Norfolk.
It was a fraught journey down here. We put our faith in the SatNav, which I was wary of. I assumed it was going to take us the M25 and M11 motorways; I would have gone the North and then East route via Kings Lynn. I should have stuck with my heart, as the M25 was a nightmare. We were stuck for an hour or so, add to that mix narrow lanes due to road works and torrential rain, it wasn’t a comfortable time.
The other problem in having blind faith in a SatNav is the hope that the postcode you have gets you to your destination and not just close. Having been on the road for five hours and daylight fading and fish and chips ready to scoff on our arrival collected, we counted down the final miles until we got to the caravan park. Then the worst thing that can happen to you when you are navigating by SatNav happened. We hit a closed road. We were only five minutes from our final destination. The SatNav immediately becomes redundant as it all it wants you to do is turn around when possible. Dawn managed to reprogram the route without the closed road in it. We were now ten minutes away. Off we set. The clock counted down. Then we had our worse fear, we had arrived at our destination and not a sign of a caravan park. We had no mobile phone signal, we were stuck! We had a second postcode to use that I made a note of as an after-thought. I’m so glad I did. We plumbed it into the SatNav. We were five minutes away again. Deep sighs all around and off we set again!
Like a shining beacon at the end of a long long journey we spied the campsite as we rounded a bend. Our spirits soared and we had made it! A mere seven hours after we had left home!
The caravan is lovely. I have no idea what the rest of the campsite is like yet, as we ate and basically collapsed on the sofas with an ice cold beer!
And relax …..
