Verdant veil

Chippies snacking on hickory nuts in one corner of the patio and hummers embracing nectar in the other. Food collecting in different ways but accelerated as the season begins to change.

A sad day, a very close lifelong friend lost her nearly 92 year old mother yesterday. Yes, she was advanced in age, but vital in every other aspect. Still limber enough to sit cross legged on the floor, she could then hop up quicker than a 5 year old. She went to college with my mother and they taught together after graduating. I can't believe she is gone, she was quite a legend, her 90 year old husband is hale and hearty as well, now heartbroken as we all are.

This Praire Warbler passed through the garden today, heading south.
