Chicken of the Woods

My favorite blip-spotter saw this high up in an oak tree in the hedgerow while we were walking Zoe. Google thinks that it is a Chicken of the Woods mushroom. My husband is allergic to chicken, turkey, duck, eggs, and anything that comes from anything feathered.  He is fascinated that this might be edible. Neither of us has any clue about mushrooms, but it would be nice to find some commercially available ones.
