Baby!

I went to the Botanics today to meet up with R and E from our Redhall days. On my way to the cafe I went to the pond and saw this teeny moorhen chick. It can't be more than a few days old.  I just love those tiny wings and those enormous feet - and that hideous bald head! Do moorhens tell each other how beautiful their babies are? 

In the pond were also teenage chicks and adults. This little one seems pretty late but I guess the warm weather encouraged the adults to have another brood. Let's hope that the mild weather continues.
