Val's rose - in the back garden
Nineteen years ago in 2006, Val gave us a climbing rose for our yarden. In 2020 Paddy took a cutting from it and planted it against the fruit bed wall in our back garden. Over the past five years the 'baby' rose has grown, and now it produces lovely blooms like this one.
We have been very busy on our first full day post-holiday, mainly with domestic tasks (notably supermarket shopping, laundry, freezer defrosting, and cooking ahead) and exercise.
I also visited the library to return one book, and to pick up another from the reservation shelf. In the case of the latter, I sat down in the library to read the chapter that interested me. It was about the accidental death of the two sons of my best friend from university in 2014. My curiosity sated, I then popped the book back into circulation.
Exercise today: 1 hour on the exercise bike; swim (60 lengths); walking (~16k steps).
