MEADOW ANT HILLS.
The grassy bumps, dotted over the grassland, are ant hills made by yellow Meadow ants. There are about 20 different species of ants living here and they are constantly at war with one another. The ant hills support a different set of plants species,. Rock rose and thyme can grow through the heaped soil also dwarf thistle, salad burnet and hawkbit. I came across these ant hills at Aston Rawant nature reserve. My extra is on top of the hill looking down next to the M40.
Wishing you all well and stay safe.
