Sloe Gin

The recipe
• 450g/1lb sloes
• 225g/8oz caster sugar
• 1 litre/1¾ pint gin

After much pricking of the Sloes I picked in Essex (only pricked my fingers twice) I put them in a large kilner jar, added the sugar and gin and gave it a good shake. It'll be stored in a cool dark cupboard, shaken every other day for a week. Then shaken once a week for at least two months.
Finally it will be strained through muslin into a sterilised bottle for enjoyment - just in time for Christmas, perhaps??!

Before the above I got all the post hol washing done and dried, to be ironed at some point, and some jobs done in the garden. Very windy today, sunny with a few showers.

Good news from Essex. Rosa, delivered safely this morning at 10.31 to parents Erin & Jake. 8lbs. Mum and baby doing well and Dad surviving too. Mr HB's a proud and happy GtGrandad.
